Night Watch Story
Night Watch Wines is a family-owned company. The Night Watch name comes from our family story of an ancestor serving under King Richard the Lionheart during the Third Crusade. One night in the year 1194, our ancestor was awoken by an owl and went out to check on his troops standing watch. He discovered a surprise ambush was underway, rallied his men, and defeated the attack. For his role, he was knighted on the field of battle by King Richard. Our family crest to this day incorporates an owl atop of the shield, and each bottle of Night Watch wine includes our family crest.
The Night Watch name also honors the vigilance and bravery of the men and women in our uniformed military and our diplomatic corps who stand “the watch,” serving our country around the world. We are grateful to all who choose to serve our country.
We are also deeply committed to supporting military veterans as they transition to civilian life by contributing a percentage of our wine sales to two foundations directly assisting veterans.
